It is a sincere privilege and honor to teach. I greatly appreciate my students and view myself as a partner in their journey to good health, mastery of this beautiful work and the natural empowerment that comes from effectively learning how to develop and manage inherent strength, flexibility and alignment. |
MEET KYM
Sr Apprentice
Early in life, Kym Votruba discovered moving her body made her happy. She could see a direct correlation between feeling good and healthy practices that supported a strong, healthy and resilient body. A lifelong athlete, with a love for activities like snowboarding, hiking, playing soccer, running, traveling and adventuring - Kym would spend as much of her free time moving as she could.
As Kym entered her 40s, she found herself struggling with many of the activities she had always loved - becoming more injury-prone with less stamina and ability as each year passed. At the same time, her passion for her full time teaching job was waning as the public education system became more and more demanding. By the end of each week, she felt drained and sapped of energy. Fueled by a desire to discover a sustainable fitness routine that would support her active lifestyle and develop the functional strength and flexibility she knew she needed to reach her goal of becoming a healthy and active centenarian, Kym found Pilates and realized it was what she had been searching for. As her body transformed and she started to feel more and more empowered by the movement, Kym realized Pilates could also offer her a new career path—one that felt like a refreshing tap rather than a draining siphon. With degrees in Psychology and Education and over 25 years of teaching experience, working with students from preschool to college, Kym is excited to combine two great passions - movement and teaching - and to bring her wisdom and expertise to the studio. |
Kym has been studying as an apprentice at Temple Pilates since February 2023. She has successfully completed the Group Mat Certification and is on track to successfully complete the fully comprehensive 600-hr teacher training program in January. We are thrilled to have Kym join our team and offer her support and encouragement to others as they explore and enhance their relationship with their bodies. Take a mat class w/ Kym:
