With a frequent practice, Pilates is an invaluable tool to address the body's imbalances and adaptive patterns while building fitness and improving conditioning (as experienced by millions and millions of people all over the world).
At heart, Temple Pilates is a classically-rooted, alignment-focused studio. In addition to Pilates, we draw from a broad range of fitness and wellness modalities (including fascia work, Yamuna Body Rolling, Yoga, joint mobility and functional range conditioning).
IN THE STUDIO
Temple Pilates Studio offers Pilates instruction for individuals and small groups. Located in midtown Ventura, the clean, modern and fully equipped studio offers classical Pilates apparatus including Cadillac, Ladder Barrel, Wunda Chairs, Reformers, Towers, smaller apparatus such as Spine Correctors, Small Barrels, Magic Circles, Foot Corrector, Toe Corrector and complementary tools like rollers, balls, straps, and bands.
At Temple Pilates, your journey begins with an assessment of your current physical condition and alignment, a discussion of your goals and a workout where you'll learn and perform foundational Pilates exercises and concepts, as well as complementary movements from the other modalities noted above. As you continue, we'll work toward your personal fitness goals while we find and correct key physical imbalances, weakness and areas of tightness. Simply put, we'll strengthen what is weak, stretch what is tight, loosen what is stuck and restore your natural alignment with a program customized for your body and needs.
Nicole Growdon (formerly Hawthorne), founder and principal instructor, is a classically trained and nationally certified Pilates instructor based in Ventura, California.
Like so many others, Nicole discovered Pilates searching for relief from chronic pain and a way to get out of a downward spiral of injuries, stress, de-conditioning and loss of mobility, adaptive patterns and imbalances, further reduced mobility and so on and so forth.
Nicole studied Pilates for more than a decade before teaching. After losing a close friend to breast cancer, she realized the time had come to change her life and focus her energy on helping others improve their health and well being.
A graduate of the Equinox Pilates Institute, Nicole maintains a consistent self-practice and continues to study Pilates as well as many other methods and traditions including Yoga, fascia release techniques, Yamuna Body Rolling, mobility / joint conditioning.
It is a sincere privilege and honor to teach. I greatly appreciate my students and view myself as a partner in their journey to good health, mastery of this beautiful work and the natural empowerment that comes from effectively learning how to develop and manage inherent strength, flexibility and alignment.
