Temple Pilates Studio is now open in the new location at 1963 E Main Street.  We love the new digs! We'll have a grand opening soon to celebrate.  Stay tuned... and in the meantime, please come join us for a session or class in the new space.

Moving to Midtown

The studio will be closed for the next week as we move from downtown Ventura to midtown Ventura, reopening after Labor Day in the new studio space at 1963 E Main St. ​

Thanks to the Earl Stanley Gardner building for being the perfect place to get started and to OFI for being such great hosts. They did an amazing job restoring the building. We'll all miss the sweet little downtown studio space so much. 

While nothing could ever top the charm of the Earl Stanley Gardner building, I'm really excited about the new midtown space for many reasons. It's bigger, offering us more room for mats and a couple more apparatus -- just what we need for the workshops and teacher trainings that we have begun planning for this next year. It's also just a block away from Ventura High School, making transportation so much easier for teen students (and their parents).

 I'm filled with gratitude for this opportunity and am endlessly grateful to my students -- without them there is no Temple Pilates. I'm looking forward to this new chapter and all the goodness the midtown space brings.

Summer Schedule @ Temple Pilates

With so many students out traveling and enjoying summer we've adopted a light schedule @ Temple Pilates. 

Join us for Happy Hour Mat on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays @ 5:30... Register online to book your spot or get in touch directly. 

For privates and semiprivate sessions, only a few options are listed online but more options are available. If you'd like to book a session and you need a time that is not listed, get in touch directly and we can set up a time that works for you. 

Throughout the summer the studio will be closed periodically for special events, trainings and retreats -- notices are posted on the online schedule. Sign up for the mailing list if you're interested in these types of events and would like to stay informed.

Beginner Mat Training & Certification w Niedra Gabriel.

So very excited to host Master Teacher Niedra Gabriel who will be leading a small group of students through a Beginner Mat Training and Certification course at Temple Pilates June 20-July 1. .

The training covers the elements required to confidently teach the 21 beginner mat exercises, which is the foundation of all Pilates work.

You will learn:
  • The optimum way to do each exercise
  • The purpose for the exercise
  • Modifications for body types and health conditions
  • How to manage a group & organize the room
  • How to use your voice
  • How to use touch effectively
  • How to use energy for dynamics and tempo
  • Your purpose as a teacher

Each student will receive a course manual to keep for notes and reference as well as a teaching certificate following successful completion of the course. 

Prerequisite -- 10 mat classes (or equivalent Pilates experience) ​​

Announcement: Mat Class Schedule Update, New Classes Added

​Hello friends, 

A huge thanks to everyone who took the time to complete the mat class survey. The results were really helpful as I wrangled with updating the class schedule. 

Here are a few things I learned: 
  • The old schedule doesn’t jive with many students schedule - more am, pm and weekend options needed! 
  • Many students are interested in progressing practice by learning advanced mat. 
  • Many students are interested in a slow, juicy, release-relax-rejuvenate class as well as a build and balance option. 
  • When building a survey don't ever use the option “other” without an explanation field!   

Here’s how I put those learnings to work with mat class additions:
     +  8 am option added mid-week (Wednesday Morning Mat)
     +  5:30 pm slot added to the end of the week (Friday Happy Hour!!) 
     +  Into Advanced classes added twice a week (Wed & Sat 10 am) 
     +  Restore & Rejuvenate class added Sundays
     +  Build & Balance on Saturdays (Sat & Sun @ 11am) 

The new mat schedule is as follows: 
  • Happy Hour Mat - Tues, Wed & Fri @ 5:30 pm 
  • Morning Mat - Wed @ 8:30 am (more will be added as the class fills) 
  • Teen Mat - Thurs 4:30 pm, Fri 2:30 pm 
  • Into Advanced Mat - Wed & Sat @ 10 am (confirm approval w me prior to class) 
  • Build & Balance Mat - Sat @ 11am 
  • Restore & Rejuvenate Mat - Sun @ 11am 


Sign up online here or call/text me (@ 805.746.5489) and I'll add you to the roster.

Please note that mat classes require 2 or more students to sign up or class will be canceled. Please check your email the morning class is scheduled to confirm it's still on. If a class gets canceled, an email will be sent by 9 pm the evening before. 

I hope the new schedule will serve you well! Please keep me posted and share feedback. If you want to come to mat classes and there still isn’t a good option for you, please get in touch and let’s see what we can do.

Announcement: Summer Workshop for Teens

Join Temple Pilates this summer for a fun, week-long immersion into movement and self-care practices that will improve health and fitness and nourish the body, mind and spirit.

Ages 12-18. All fitness levels are welcome -- no prior experience needed. 

​Key activities:
  • Studio time practicing Pilates to improve strength, flexibility, balance and body control.
  • Relaxation using breath and meditation techniques to balance the nervous system and calm the mind and emotions.
  • Breaks for nutrition and hydration, learning the importance of taking responsiblity for self-care and leading a balanced lifestyle.
  • Time outdoors for natural movement and play. We’ll hike up to the botanical gardens, go to the beach, and explore downtown.
  • ​Each student will be invited to set an individual goal and work toward achieving it by the end of the week.

Announcement:  Fascia Release Workshop w Niedra Gabriel, April 15th

In this 3-hour workshop, Niedra will teach us how to use a specialized ball rolling method to restore health and proper alignment. This method is a wonderful tool for self-care and body conditioning -- creating much needed space in the body, smoothing and elongating muscle fibers, increasing circulation (improving hydration, nutrition and detoxification) and increasing range of motion throughout the body.

Niedra is a master mover and an excellent teacher with an extremely awesome spirit. I’m so honored to host her at Temple Pilates Studio.

March Newsletter:  March MATness

Hello friends,

It's March 1st and studios all over the world are celebrating Joseph Pilates' seminal work... the Pilates Mat Workout. Putting a special focus on particular area of work is a great way to 
explore / deepen your work and your practice.

In my personal practice, I will be doing Mat daily for all 31 days of the month. Whether at home or in the studio, I highly encourage you to boost your Mat practice -- go for every day if you can. I have no doubt whatsoever that you be very happy with the results. 

At the studio, my goal is to make it easy, affordable and fun to participate in March
Matness! Here's how we're doing it... 
  • Special offer this month = Unlimited Mat Pass for $150 (available to all students) 
  • Mat classes offered 6 days each week (see below for schedule)
  • A donation-based Happy Hour class added Tues eve @ 5:30
  • Anyone new to Temple Pilates can sign up for a free Mat Class Pass (pass it on)

Through the month of March, Mat classes will be available 6 days a week. Classes have been added during the noon hour on weekdays and a donation based "Happy Hour" class has been added for Tues evenings.

  • Wednesday:  Noon, Happy Hour - 5:30 pm
