Roger Gonzales-Hibner
|
Roger has been dedicated to teaching Pilates for approximately 30 years. Throughout his career, he has been fortunate to learn from and collaborate with numerous outstanding instructors and leaders in the Pilates community.
He began his professional journey in dance, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in Dance from the University of Texas in Austin. Roger performed professionally in New York with the Solomons Dance Company and Milton Myers Dance Company, and in Los Angeles with the Lewitzky Dance Company.
Roger embarked on his Pilates career in 1995, completing his comprehensive certification at Pilates Studio NYC in 2001 under the guidance of Romana Kryzanowska. Shortly after, he connected with Physical Therapists Allyson Cabot and Gabrielle Shrier of Core Conditioning, who sought someone to join their training team with a classical Pilates perspective.
Over the years, Roger has studied with some of the most respected Pilates instructors in the field, including direct mentorship from Romana Kryzanowska, Jay Grimes, and Mari Winsor, as well as workshops with Ron Fletcher, Mary Bowen, Kathy Grant, and Lolita San Miguel. He brings the wisdom and teachings of these pioneers to his practice with authenticity and depth. For any student passionate about classical Pilates or teachers wanting to expand their knowledge, studying with Roger is an exceptional opportunity.
Roger remains committed to his growth and development by working with fellow instructors and studio owners, teaching students, leading teacher training programs, and engaging in his own practice with mentors.
As an exemplary figure of a balanced, classically rooted Pilates professional, Roger possesses a profound appreciation for classical Pilates, complemented by a broader therapeutic toolkit. He understands how to collaborate effectively with doctors and physical therapists to enhance recovery and rehabilitation programs.
Roger teaches master classes both nationally and internationally. In addition to studio instruction, he currently teaches comprehensive and continuing education courses as a faculty member for Balanced Body University at Core Conditioning.
